About Tune Builders
In this full-day camp, students experience what it’s like to play music in a band. Under the direction of professionally active musician instructors, participants learn to play their favourite cover songs, learn about songwriting, co-write and record their own original song, and perform a small concert at the end. All of this is achieved while learners improve their technical skills, try new instruments, and make new friends and collaborators.
Tune Builders was founded and is operated by David Beckingham who is a singer songwriter and a founding member of the Canadian Juno-nominated band Hey Ocean!. The aim of David and his instructional team is to inspire young musicians to tap into their unlimited creative potential through music. Play
Whether beginner or advanced, come learn to play cover songs (other bands songs) and original songs as a band. Plug in and play as a band everyday! Instruments are provided and students may bring their own if they like.
Create
Experience building a song from the ground up. We play to the strengths of the group so whether you’re interested in writing lyrics, coming up with a drum beat or guitar riff, everyone gets to add their ideas to the collaboration.
Record
Experience recording a song and being around studio gear, help engineer the recording, and learn about production and arrangement while being produced by professional record producers/engineers.
Perform
Play a concert for family and friends at the end of the week and show off your set of covers and at least one new song written by your band that week!
Registration Details
Drop off: 8:50 – 9:00 am
Session 1: 9:00 – 10:30 am
Recess: 10:30 – 10:45 am
Session 2: 10:45 am – 12:30 pm
Lunch: 12:30 – 1:00 pm
Session 3: 1:00 – 2:15 pm
Recess: 2:15 – 2:30 pm
Session 4: 2:30 – 3:30 pm
Pick up: 3:30 – 3:40 pm
Friday session – Concert and Final Celebration: 3:55 – 4:30 pm
* Please arrive on time to be seated for the performances which begin at 4:00 pm.
The camp registration fee is $950 regular price, $875 early bird price (if registered before March 1, 2023).
We accept payment through cheque, Interac e-transfer, credit card, and online banking. After submitting the application form, you will receive an invoice with the total due and further details on how to submit payment.
To confirm your registration in Tune Builders Spring Break Camp, the invoice will need to be paid no later than 2 business days after the invoice is received.
The application deadline is March 10, 2023.
Anyone who registers after this deadline will be waitlisted, subject to availability.
The cancellation deadline is March 1, 2023.
Cancellations before this date will be eligible for a refund of the full amount minus a $100 processing fee. Any cancellation after aforementioned dates will not be eligible for a refund.
David has been teaching my son for over 8 years through his program Tune Builders, singing lessons and private guitar lessons. My son's development and enthusiasm for music during this time can be attributed to David's encouragement and inspiration. He always makes himself available and understands the musical needs of his students.
