The Writing Lab

Over two weeks of daily instruction, students strengthen their writing skills through a blend of creative and expository activities designed to spark ideas, build structure, and strengthen clarity. Guided by expert instructors, learners move from crafting strong paragraphs to producing well-organized multi-paragraph pieces, developing confidence, voice, and the tools they need to communicate effectively across subjects. With supportive feedback, structured practice, and engaging prompts, students discover that writing can be both enjoyable and empowering. (Support with assistive technology is available as needed.)

Students Develop Skills In:

  • Idea generation and planning (brainstorming, using graphic organizers, creating strong topic sentences)
  • Paragraph structure and fluency (cohesive sentences, transitions, supporting details)
  • Multi-paragraph writing (organization, sequencing, crafting introductions, conclusions)
  • Creative expression (tone, voice, descriptive writing, narrative elements)
  • Expository writing (explaining, informing, comparing, summarizing)
  • Revision and editing strategies (clarity, sentence variety, grammar, punctuation)
