I loved the upbeat and inclusive environment that supported confidence and therefore learning. My son said 2 weeks was too short. He loved all the classes and new friends.
ParentSummer Boost Camp (Mornings: 8:30 am to 12:30 pm)

For students entering Grades 2-8
Students have one Language Skills Development session each day.
There are two options: 1:1 Orton-Gillingham Tutoring or Small Group Language Arts.
Orton-Gillingham 1:1 tutoring will be offered on a student-by-student basis. During this class a student works with an Orton-Gillingham certified language specialist on a program specifically designed to meet unique needs in the areas of reading, spelling, writing and handwriting. Please contact the school to discuss your child’s needs at 604 736 5575.
The emphasis of this class will be on developing writing skills. In the Language Arts program, multiple methods and instructional strategies are used to deliver whole group and individualized learning instruction. The foundation of this program is language instruction delivered through the Orton-Gillingham approach.
Three additional classes/camp complete the morning schedule.
Academic classes are taught with a maximum of 8 students per class. Parents select class preferences following registration. Note: classes are subject to change.
In the science program, we apply inquiry based instruction, in which students take part in interactive lessons to enhance critical thinking. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions, design procedures, carry out investigations, and analyze data. Each week students will focus on a unique project.
In the math program, multi-modal materials and instructional strategies are utilized. Students are taught in small groups with up to five students. The progression of skill delivery will be individualized to meet student needs.
Campers will be lead in a variety of outdoor activities geared towards developing teamwork and an enjoyment of physical activity. Students will also be given the opportunity to design games to play together and learn new leadership skills.
This class is geared to give campers a positive music experience, while they learn to sing and play the drums, electric guitar and a variety of percussion instruments. This is a great opportunity for kids to find a way to express themselves.
Campers will have a hands-on experience of exploring different fine arts media. Each week will focus on a unique project.
Campers will be introduced to a variety of drama techniques and games to have fun as well as build self-confidence, self-esteem and collaborative skills. This will be a unique opportunity for students to express themselves in new and creative ways.
My son really enjoyed Boost camp. The teachers were fantastic at making connections with the kids, and the activities were hands-on, engaging and individualized. The OG tutoring for my son was really targeted, and he did so much in two weeks!

STEMphilic Summer Camp
Throughout camp, students will engage in weekly projects in robotics, coding, science, creative mathematics, and 3D printing.
Week 1 (Jul 3 – Jul 7): Eureka!
Students will have many Eureka moments as they explore their surroundings through the lenses of science and math. They will learn to apply scientific methods to their process of inquiry.
Week 2 (Jul 10 – Jul 14): Space Adventure
Come explore outer space with us! We will check out things from rockets to stars in the universe and to potential extra-terrestrial creatures.
Week 1 (Jul 17 – Jul 21): Fun and Green!
What does it mean to be green? How can we be creative and use science to take care of our planet? We will explore paper-making techniques, using biodegradable plastic, harnessing different renewable energy resources, and more!
Week 2 (Jul 24 – 28): The Magic of Nature
Join us to explore the magic of nature as a scientist, programmer, and mathematician. Where can we spot science and math at work in nature?
STEMphilic is a small company founded by a local science educator who aims to inspire students to be curious and critically analyze the world around them.
In this half-day camp, Grade 2-8 students build STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment through small group classes of 5-10 students that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and innovation.
Play
Whether beginner or advanced, come learn to play cover songs (other bands songs) and original songs as a band. Plug in and play as a band everyday! Instruments are provided and students may bring their own if they like.
Create
Experience building a song from the ground up. We play to the strengths of the group so whether you’re interested in writing lyrics, coming up with a drum beat or guitar riff, everyone gets to add their ideas to the collaboration.
Record
Experience recording a song and being around studio gear, help engineer the recording, and learn about production and arrangement while being produced by professional record producers/engineers.
Perform
Play a concert for family and friends at the end of the week and show off your set of covers and at least one new song written by your band that week!
Tune Builders was founded and is operated by David Beckingham who is a singer songwriter and a founding member of the Canadian Juno-nominated band Hey Ocean!. The aim of David and his instructional team is to inspire young musicians to tap into their unlimited creative potential through music. This was an incredibly positive experience for our daughter. She has come home with a new interest in learning and the comments in her final reports have renewed her self confidence. She’s so proud of herself!
