Who We Are
Vanessa KursanLearning Specialist Email
Vanessa Kursan began volunteering with students with learning disabilities in 2010 after returning from a 4-year teaching position in South Korea. She was introduced to the Orton-Gillingham methodology while volunteering at a school. She saw the improvements in students and decided to become an Orton-Gillingham tutor. After tutoring at a centre for 6 months, she joined Fraser Academy and has never looked back.
While at Fraser Academy Ms. Kursan has assisted with clubs and coached the swim team and track and field. Her dog Spencer has become a bit of a celebrity at the school doing demos and being part of the “Puppy Room” during exams. She assists with intake testing and has recently become a Professionally Certified NILD Educational Therapist.
Ms. Kursan is committed to increasing her student’s skills to provide meaningful change in her student’s lives. She enjoys seeing her students’ confidence improve as they become more self-aware of their strengths and enhance their independence.
