Who We Are

Luisa Bacalso is an experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) educator having taught in Japan, South Korea, and Turkey. In 1996, she settled in Vancouver and continued to teach students from diverse cultural backgrounds the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exams with a focus on grammar and essay writing.

Ms. Bacalso was introduced to the Orton-Gillingham approach when she volunteered at the Vancouver Urban Ministry. Recognizing its value and effectiveness, she wanted to improve and expand her knowledge, which led her to Fraser Academy. She believes in the transformative power of education. She sees it as the key to unlocking limitless opportunities, particularly when it comes to literacy.

With her passion and years of experience, her mission is to help FAx students master the invaluable skills of reading and writing, the gateway skills to a world of possibilities.
