Who We Are

Josephine Awuah started working at Fraser Academy as an OG Practitioner in 2021. Ms. Awuah finds great joy in every opportunity to help students develop essential reading and writing skills. Her passion for teaching kids was shaped during her high school days, when she would volunteer to tutor pupils in her neighbourhood in English and math, and help them with their homework. This developed into daily evening class sessions, where she helped students through drills of spelling, pronunciation, writing and general every day communication. Having gone through this experience in rural Ghana, where there weren’t many learning opportunities for kids, she believes every mind is teachable.

Ms. Awuah graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2017 with a Master’s of Science. It was here that she became a member of the Born for More Club at Origin Church, and served as Sunday school teacher with Origin Kids. She currently co-leads Origin Kids, serving families on the UBC campus.
