Who We Are

Jilaine Orton earned a Bachelor’s of Music (2017) and a Bachelor’s of Education (2019) from the University of Victoria, where she specialized in classical violin and music education. In addition to her academic training, she has cultivated a career as a professional vocalist, performing with distinguished choirs and a cappella ensembles across Canada and internationally. Ms. Orton is also an active choir clinician, working with students in schools throughout British Columbia, and contributes to the advancement of music education as part of the organizing team for the British Columbia Music Educators Association’s annual provincial conference, which welcomes more than 650 educators each year.

At Fraser Academy, Ms. Orton serves as Assistant Director of Junior School and Junior Music Teacher. Her passion is to provide both students and staff with a safe learning environment that fosters community, encourages belonging, and supports student voice, empowering learners to take an active role in their educational journey.
