Who We Are

In 2007, Jessica Kara graduated from the University of Warwick with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Foreign Languages. Between 2008 and 2009, she was selected to join the Teach First Graduate program where she earned her teaching certification. After her first teaching placement, she joined a start up school in London in 2011 where she developed her practice to serve students who struggled with reading, writing and speaking. Due to her passion and skill in the classroom, she was selected as lead of Initial Teacher Training, helping other teachers improve practice and earn teaching certification.

Since 2017, Ms. Kara has been an involved member of the Fraser Academy team, teaching middle and senior English, undertaking Grade Advisor roles and, most recently, appointed as Department Head of English in 2022. Her love for teaching and empowering students to be confident communicators helps drive her work everyday.

In her spare time, she can be found listening to British rock music, exploring beautiful British Columbia, reading suspense fiction and watching live theatre.
