Fraser Academy Student Wins International Competition: Wild Postcard Project 2025
We are thrilled to share that Fraser Academy student, Will J. (Grade 6, 2024-25), has been named one of 20 international winners in the Wild Postcard Project’s Global Biodiversity Art Competition for his artwork, “Coyote”.
This year’s competition received over 4,500 entries from 75 countries — making Will’s recognition a truly remarkable achievement. His work will now be transformed into a postcard and printed alongside other winning entries from around the world.
About the Wild Postcard Project
Based in Ireland, the Wild Postcard Project is an international biodiversity art competition for children and teens. The initiative aims to promote awareness of global biodiversity through art, inviting young people to creatively represent species from their local environments. Winning entries are printed as postcards and distributed worldwide — sharing messages of conservation and appreciation for the natural world through children’s eyes.
We loved how you incorporated different brush strokes and colours into the coyote’s coat, making it shine on paper as much as it does in reality.

The Grade 6 submissions to the competition were drawn from the “Animals of the Fraser River Watershed” book — a cross-curricular project that stemmed from the school-wide, year-long Fraser for the Fraser initiative. This interdisciplinary project connected science, art, and environmental stewardship, encouraging students to study local ecosystems and express what they learned through creative media.

In addition to Will’s success, these students were shortlisted for this year’s competition. Competition organizers noted that having multiple students from one school make the shortlist was an impressive achievement—something no other school in the world accomplished.

A Legacy of Excellence
This is the second time Fraser Academy has had a winner in the Wild Postcard Project — the first being in 2018 — underscoring our students’ ongoing excellence in connecting scientific curiosity with artistic expression.
We couldn’t be prouder of Will, Marin, and William for representing Fraser Academy, and British Columbia, on the global stage. Their success is a wonderful reminder of how creativity and curiosity can inspire a deeper connection with the natural world—both within and beyond our classrooms.
