Reading, Writing, and the Brain

We are happy to have Fraser Academy’s Colleen Chow, Director of Learning Services, presenting on Reading, Writing, and the Brain.

In this presentation, Ms. Chow will share how the brain is organized for the processing of language and learning. She will explain the different pathways used for students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences during reading and highlight the benefit of multisensory instruction when teaching our students.

This presentation is ideal for parents who would like a deeper understanding of the learning process for students with dyslexia or other LDs in relation to the developing brain.

About the Presenter

Colleen Chow
Director of Learning Services at Fraser Academy; Orton Gillingham Trainer

Ms. Chow first trained in the Orton Gillingham method to learn about learning disabilities when her son was diagnosed with dyslexia. She became a Learning Specialist at Fraser Academy in 2008 and is now Director of Learning Services. Ms. Chow is a certified Dyslexia Therapist, Educational Therapist, and AOGPE Fellow-in-Training. In addition to working with young students, Ms. Chow trains educators in Orton Gillingham.
