How to Support a Child with a Learning Difference in Math

Join us for our upcoming Community Education Night, featuring Laura Jackson, author of Discovering Dyscalculia: One family’s journey with a math disability.

Dyscalculia is the term used to describe a Specific Learning Disability that involves an impairment in math. This little-known learning difference impacts 5-7% of the population, or about 1 in every 20 students and adults. As Laura will share, dyscalculia affects many parts of daily life, not just performance in math class.

Through relatable stories and first-hand experience as a mom, Laura will shed light on the core characteristics of dyscalculia, explain how it differs from math struggles caused by dyslexia, and share practical guidance on how to support your dyscalculic child at school and at home.

When: Thursday, April 16, 2026 – 7:00 to 8:30 pm

Where: Online (registrants will receive the event link in advance).

Who should attend: Parents, educators, and professionals who support children and youth, especially those with children who struggle with math and/or have dyscalculia.

Registration: The event is open to the public and free to attend. Registration is required as spaces are limited.

Registration is now closed for this event.
