A counsellor at Fraser Academy since 2009, Sandy Grimminck has a keen understanding of the students’ emotions and learning challenges – both professionally and from personal experience. She was a member of the Fraser Academy Grad Class of ’92. Ms. Grimminck earned her undergraduate degree from Okanagan University, and a Masters Degree in Counselling, Psychology (Adler University).
Since becoming Director of Counselling in 2011, Ms. Grimminck has enhanced the counselling program and services for a more proactive and holistic approach that supports the student body. In 2012 Ms. Grimminck implemented a Social Emotional Learning program in the Junior School that teaches children to be more self and socially aware, manage emotions and friendships and use positive decision making skills.
In the wider community, Ms. Grimminck has served on the board of directors for the BC Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychology Association for three years. She also presents on parenting and social emotional learning to parent participation preschools and PAC groups in VSB schools.
